This Privacy Policy applies to the RunIRL mobile application
("Application"), available on iOS and Android, developed by the RunIRL
Team. By using the Application, you agree to the collection and use of
information in accordance with this policy.
Information Collection and Use
The Application may collect certain information automatically when you
download and use it, including:
- Your device's IP address and device model
- Usage data (features used, screens viewed, session duration)
- App settings and preferences
- Operating system version (iOS / Android)
- Crash reports and diagnostic data for app stability
Camera & Movement Data You Provide
What We Collect
- Live camera feed used to track your body position and movement while running in place
- Motion tracking data derived from your camera feed (steps, pace, cadence, form score)
- Run history including steps, distance, duration, and calories burned
- Level, XP, coin balance, and skill tree progress
- Daily mission completion, achievements, and streak data
- Boss battle results and personal bests
- Display name and leaderboard ranking data, if you opt into the leaderboard
- Subscription and account information
- Feedback or support messages you send us
- Apple Health data you choose to sync (steps, active minutes, calories)
How We Use This Data
- To analyze your camera feed in real time and generate your step count, pace, and form score
- To calculate calories burned and track your run history over time
- To award XP, coins, level progress, and unlock achievements
- To power daily missions and boss battle challenges
- To rank you on the leaderboard relative to other users, if enabled
- To save your personal settings, streaks, and progress
- To sync your activity with Apple Health, if enabled
- To improve app performance, motion-tracking accuracy, and feature quality
- To troubleshoot technical issues and enhance the user experience
- To process and manage your subscription
Your Camera Feed & Run Data
Your Camera Feed Is Private: We understand that a live
camera feed of you running is sensitive. Your camera feed, motion data, and
personal run history are:
- Processed on-device or via encrypted transmission for real-time tracking
- Never sold to third parties
- Never shared publicly without your explicit permission
- Used only to power your personal RunIRL experience within the app
- Deletable at any time through the app settings or by contacting support
- Stored securely with industry-standard encryption
AI Motion Tracking
RunIRL uses AI models to analyze your camera feed and generate your step count,
pace, cadence, and running-form score. We treat this data with particular care:
- Camera footage is never used for advertising or profiling purposes
- Camera footage is never shared with insurance companies, employers, or third-party marketers
- Video frames used for tracking are processed to generate your run stats and are not used to train models on an identifiable basis without your consent
- Leaderboard entries display your chosen display name and stats only — camera footage is never shown to other users
Third-Party Services
We may use third-party services to help operate and improve the application.
These services may have access to anonymized or aggregated data only.
The Application uses the following third-party services:
- RevenueCat (for subscription management on iOS and Android)
- AI/ML processing providers (for motion tracking and form scoring)
- Apple HealthKit (for syncing steps, active minutes, and calories, if enabled)
- Apple Analytics / Firebase (for app performance monitoring)
- Crashlytics (for stability reporting and bug tracking)
- Cloud Storage Services (for run history and progress data backup and sync)
Platform-Specific Information
iOS (Apple App Store)
- Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID and App Store account
- Apple may collect diagnostic and usage data in accordance with their own privacy policy
- iCloud backup may include app data if enabled on your device
- Apple Health integration is optional and controlled through iOS permissions
Android (Google Play Store)
- Subscriptions are managed through your Google account and Google Play
- Google may collect diagnostic and usage data in accordance with their own privacy policy
- Google Drive backup may include app data if enabled on your device
Data Storage and Security
Local & Cloud Storage
- Your run history, levels, and preferences are stored locally on your device and optionally synced to the cloud for backup.
- We do not sell your personal or camera-derived data to third parties.
- All data transmissions are encrypted using industry-standard protocols (TLS 1.3).
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration,
or destruction. This includes encryption, secure servers, access controls, and regular security
audits. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot
guarantee absolute security.
Opt-Out Rights
You may stop data collection at any time by:
- Uninstalling the application from your device
- Requesting account and data deletion via support (email below)
- Disabling analytics in the app settings
- Disabling camera access in your device settings (note: this will disable motion tracking during runs)
- Opting out of the public leaderboard within the app settings
- Deleting individual runs or your entire history within the app
Data Retention
We retain user data as long as you use the app and maintain an active account. If you delete
the app, local data is removed from your device. You can request complete deletion of any
cloud-synced data by contacting support. Run history, level progress, and achievements remain
stored until you explicitly delete them or request account deletion. Subscription data is
retained by the App Store or Google Play provider for billing history in accordance with their
policies.
Age Restrictions
Age Requirement: RunIRL is a fitness tracking app intended for users aged
16 and older. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information, including
camera or motion data, from children under 16. If you believe a minor has provided
us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete
such information.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access to your personal data and run/progress history
- Correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion of your data (including run history, levels, and achievements)
- Objection to data processing
- Data portability (export your progress history)
- Restriction of processing

International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure
appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy
and applicable laws.
California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy
Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to
delete personal information, and the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information. We
do not sell personal information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for
legal reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We
encourage you to review this policy periodically. For significant changes affecting your
personal or camera data, we will notify you through the app or via email.
